Chandigarh, November 20 – The Aam The The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has accused the Captain Amarinder Singh government for stabbing the farmers in the back on the loan waiver claims.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters on Wednesday, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, president of the Kisan wing of the party, and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer (MLA) and core committee members Dalbir Singh Dhillon and Gurdit Singh Sekhon, said that the Bankers’ Committee meet held in Chandigarh had exposed the captain Amarinder Singh Government over the loan waiver, accusing it of not disbursing a whopping amount of Rs 338 crore on account of farm loan waiver allowed to 10637 farmers, saying the unpaid amount was now being withdrawn from the banks.
Sandhwan said that Capt Amarinder Singh had not only run away from backtracking on the poll promise of a total loan waiver to the farmers in the state before assuming power but had also shown his insensitivity towards the farmers, saying that even small loan waivers were being allowed to the farmers under stringent hard terms and conditions, which was reflective of his avowed discrimination against the farming community.
Meet Hayer said that the figures of loan waiver presented at the Bankers’ meet had not only exposed the Captain Government but had also exposed the Modi government at the centre, stating that out of the total of 10637, as many as 6332 farmers had no bank accounts in their names while the Modi government missed no opportunity to stake claim to open bank account in the name of every citizen in the country and had splurged crores on its publicity.
Dalbir Singh Dhillon and Gurdit Singh Sekhon said that that the disclosures made at the Bankers’ meet had laid bare the false claims of the Captain Government on loan waiver, saying the waivers were allowed only to the chosen few who were close to the ruling Congress party or the Akalis.
The AAP leaders demanded that the Captain Government should allow complete loan waiver to the farmers and farm laborers, a promise that he had made to them before assuming power. They also demanded simplification of the process of availing the waiver.
