Upping the ante ahead of the assembly polls, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal compared AAP’s manifesto controversy to the killing of innocent Sikhs during Operation Blue Star in 1984.
Badal said Aam Aadmi Party’s leadership was ignorant of the issues in Punjab and disregarded the emotions of its people. Badal was addressing a sangat darshan programme at Lambi segment.
The CM asked people to exercise caution when voting, saying, “If voted to power, AAP will ruin the state like Congress did,” adding, “AAP has hurt religious sentiments just like the Congress did when it orchestrated the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in 1984 and killed innocent Sikhs.”
The Akalis slammed AAP after it released its manifesto with a picture of a broom on top of a photograph of the Golden Temple. Badal said AAP leaders did not hold respect for any religion because the party had equated its manifesto with all holy scriptures.
