Bathinda, March 20 – Union food processing industries minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal has recommended widening and construction of four roads of the Bathinda constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), a centrally sponsored of the Ministry of rural development.
In a statement, the Union minister said she had recommended the widening and construction of the four roads to the State PWD-B&R department recently. “I have sent signed of copies of CUCPLs (Comprehensive Upgradation Cum Consolidation Priority Lists) to the concerned department asking it to construct the four roads under PMGSY-3,” she added.
Giving details of the proposal, Mrs. Badal said that she had suggested widening of Nahiawala to Mehma Sarja to Abu road, Ghudda to Nandgarh Kotguru road, Balluana to Jhumba road and Raman to Peron road via Teona-Behman Jassa Singh. “These roads need to be widened as the traffic volume has been increased manifold on them in the last few years. The state government should not sit on this proposal and start work on it immediately,” she said.
Speaking about the strengthening of the road network by the erstwhile SAD-BJP government in the state, the union minister said Punjab witnessed a sea change in the road network under the leadership S. Parkash Singh Badal. “Maximum numbers of the roads have been been taken up for work in Bathinda district during the SAD- BJP tenure, particularly in 2009-10,” she added.
